OK so it's been a little while. I know you are probably thinking 'Where the hell did Bets & Bobs go?', but DON'T WORRY, he hasn't gone anywhere. He's been busy adding to the collection and enjoying the summer.
So it's been a busy few months, highlights of which begin with seeing my friend Derek Lawlor's amazing exhibition. His clothes really are amazing, take a look here.
I am well and truly in the festival swing. Have hit Brighton's Great Escape, Camden Crawl, the legendary Glastonbury and little Hop Farm Festival.
Great Escape was amazing as ever and we managed to escape the rain this year which is always a bonus. Highlights have to be Band of Skulls at Hectors House and playing Crystal Maze at the Premier Inn with Lenny Henry and the Tribs.
Camden Crawl highlight was MISS DYNAMITE. literally incredible. 100% entertainment, comedy and disbelief all in one crazy little lady.
Glastonbury....WELL. there were so many highlights. Firstly, it was SO HOT and DRY, making it a completely different experience to the Glastonbury i went to in 2007 when I had to wear the same leggings for a LONG time because they were caked on with mud. That wasn't nice. This was nice. I got to see pretty much the whole festival, which made me happy. I got to make a paper mache had which made me VERY happy. And Shangri La was magic. Undescribable, you need to just go and see it for yourself.
Hightlights music wise were SHAKIRA (quite surprsingly), Stevie Wonder (obviously), SNOOOP DOOOOOOOOOOOGG (bloody brilliant - i think everyone that watched him thought they were actually an american rapper), Vampire Weekend (hard to believe i saw them at their first gig in London at ULU about 2 years about, and there they were on THE PYRAMID STAGE). Ray Davies was a beauty...joined on stage with Crouch End Choir singing Sunny Afternoon on an ACTUAL SUNNY AFTERNOON. The XX were perfect, as you would imagine. DIRTY BATCH.
Hop Farm was a lovely little festival. Absolutely fell in love with Mr Mumford, their set was incredible. Laura Marling was lovely, Pete Doherty was a champ, showing Daniella some love, Ray Davies was as delightful as the week before at Glasto and BOB DYLAN. Well woah. It was emotional. And still slightly unbelievable.
So where to next.....Bestival is the main thing in my sights at the moment and i can't wait. With my boys. It will be the one. And in the mean time, there's Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, Stanton Calling, Field Day, Reading, LED...the list goes on. Who knows where you will see me and where you won't.
Now back to the sewing machine to make the lads some BETS & BOBS for their new pads.
Love Betsy
